Opening sequence research







To get a clearer idea of my genre, I have researched opening scenes of the same genre. This will help me understand how my end project will support the genre I chose.

Pan's Labyrinth Opening Sequence

The opening starts with a melody that suits the lullaby and gives the viewers an idea about the genre being child but also with the slight horror sensation the melody gives it also evokes the feeling of horror, and fear that the general theme of the movie is portrayed with.

The first visual on screen is "Ophelia" the main character lying on the the floor (the scene of her death) giving an idea to the audience that at one point this sequence of the movie is going to happen.
And with the typical"once upon a time" narrative it is seemingly giving a sense of fantasy that is included.

 As Sweet Home is a series about being possessed by some kind of virus the opening scene too describes how a person gets into that position (it is shown in a scribbler )







  • And this shows how the virus has overtaken the brain.
  • This shows how a person is trapped in his own body due to the virus taking over him.

This shows how the opening sequence of the TV series has given an idea to the viewers of what is to come.

Genre Research What is fantasy as a genre? Fantasy is a genre of fiction that typically features magic, supernatural or otherworldly things. What is dark fantasy? Dark fantasy is a subgenre of the main genre of fantasy. This genre blends horror and fantasy elements, often having a grim dark setting. This subgenre features a darker tone to fantasy.  What is the difference between fantasy and dark fantasy? Shots and Angles

Shots and Angles  Preliminary work To develop my skill in film production I have taken some shots and angles with the convenience of what I have. Shots Medium shot Here, I took a medium shot of my dog. It was a little hard to keep him in place, but after trying a couple of times, I think I did it okay. Close up shot Here I asked my sister for help to take a close shot of her eye and I think it came ok, Two shot Here, I asked my mother and grandmother to sit together so I could take two shots of them, and they happily came to help me with this.
